Diabetes Facts

  • 1.5 million Australians have diabetes and half don’t know it (they have undiagnosed type 2 diabetes)
  • An estimated 275 Australians develop diabetes every day
  • An estimated two million Australians have pre-diabetes and are at risk of developing type 2 diabetes
  • Type 2 diabetes continues to be the fastest growing chronic disease in Australia
  • The cost of diabetes to the Australian healthcare system is estimated at least $3 billion
  • Diabetes is the sixth leading cause of death in Australia
  • Complications of diabetes include:
    - heart attacks and strokes: up to four times more likely in people with diabetes
    - blindness: retinopathy affects one in six people with diabetes
    - kidney damage: three times more common in people with diabetes
    - amputations: 15 times more common in people with diabetes

Obesity information for adults and children  

  • It is estimated (in 2001) that almost 60 per cent of the adult population in Australia over 25 years of age (67.5 per cent of men and 52.1 per cent of women) is overweight or obese
  • the prevalence of obesity in Australia has more than doubled in the past twenty years
  • The International Obesity Task Force estimates that based on current trends, by 2010, 70 per cent of Australian adults will be above the ideal weight and by about 2025, one in every three Australian adults will be obese
  • In Victoria (in 2005) it was estimated that 54.2 per cent of males and 41.9 per cent of females (47.9 per cent of adults) over the age of 18 years were overweight or obese
  • It is estimated (Norton et al 2006) that about 25 per cent of Australian children (age 5 to 15 years) are overweight or obese, and that within thirty years, prevalence in children will rise to similar levels to the current prevalence (60 per cent) in adults. 

Australia really is one of the fattest nations in the world and we are getting fatter and diabetes is on the rise each year!
 

There are many things that can be done and need to be done to lower the incidences of Type 2 Diabetes and slow the rise in Obesity in Australia. Support is needed for great organizations such as Diabetes Australia – Vic who work hard undertaking research into diabetes management, prevention and the search for a cure.

But, first and foremost it is really up to you to take steps to be pro-active in your own health management and lower your chances of becoming another statistic. In basic English – live healthy, eat healthy, be activeJ.

Full details of the Outa-Fatness Charity Challenge

For 12 weeks the ‘Outa-Fatness Challengers’ will compete to transform their lives starting on the Monday 15th February and finishing on Saturday 15th May.

Each challenger will set 5 goals (detailed info on exactly how to set these goals for optimal results will be provided) that they wish to achieve for their health & fitness over the course of the 12 weeks.

This is not solely a weight loss challenge although we know that getting rid of that annoying ugly fat and losing weight will be high on the agenda for many of you. This is more about changing lifestyle & changing habits to become a healthier person able to enjoy many, many more quality years – not just a 12 week challenge. In saying that, we will be helping challengers to make balanced efforts across major areas of their health such as:

* Nutrition & Water
* Exercise / Activity
* Rest & Recovery / Sleep
* Stress Relief / Relaxation / Mindset
* Work / Social Habits

Don’t worry, we will help you and if you are able to address areas other than just food & exercise – YOU will get much better results that will last a lifetime and the fat will just drop off you. How do I know? Because we have trained hundreds of clients and we know that the human body does not want to be fat

– it just needs a little help in the right places and it will help you back by rewarding you for your efforts with fast fat loss, fitness & muscle tone!

So, the challenge runs for 12 weeks and over those 12 weeks you will work towards your goals. Every 2 weeks you will be required to submit your results via the website, full details will be provided via email after you register.

Yes, you will need some good ole ‘Before’ pictures and in classic challenge style you’ll need to hold a current daily newspaper so we can be sure of the date that you begin. Then, at the end of the 12 weeks you do the same again – only this time YOU look fantastic in your ‘After’ pictures.

Note: We are not some crazy new age group that require you to mediate your weight off – our ‘super shape up system’ is based on real world case studies and has been tried and tested over & over again. By the way, this is our 3rd challenge like this so we are not new at it, we know they work and we know how to run it!

We will be sharing our highly successful methods with you all for FREE and every day people pay us hundreds of $$ for this information so do not blow this off. What’s the catch?

Yes, you are right, of course there is catch. but it’s designed to help you succeed. Now, you are only paying $1 to enter & we will share with you everything that we know to help you achieve great results. All we ask in return is that you stay involved in the challenge and finish the full 12 weeks because it is consistent effort that will determine your level of success. We have put a great deal of our time & effort into this to and we want to see you succeed – that is our pay off (plus it’s not too bad for our profile either – wuhahaha).

Now, the catch, if you drop out of the challenge before the end or if you miss 2 scheduled results submission dates then you will forfeit $200 via your credit card and this will be donated to Diabetes Austalia – Vic (you will receive a Tax Receipt for your donation).

So, not only will you let yourself & your sponsors down if you drop out but you will also lose $200 of your own money – ouch! So, moral of the story, don’t drop out!*

*If you must drop out due to illness or injury or any other special circumstance then of course, you will not be penalised. Note: A cold/flu is not an illness or injury!

FREE Eating Plans & Exercise Programs

This is simple, once you register will give you the fat busting, energy boosting, health enhancing and muscle toning eating plans that will propel you towards your goals. You will receive these via email; they will not be displayed on the site.

IMPORTANT NOTE: We provide real world plans (not diets) with real food and not Biggest Loser/Tony Ferguson shakes/bars or whatever etc (which, by the way, are absolute crap and full of sugar – read the label and be afraid!) Don’t get me started on this junk, I’ll rant for ages…

Now, we are not chefs so these plans are simple and no gourmet recipes will be found. We will put recipes up on the site though for those of you who enjoy cooking recipes. The eating plans are very simple and based around choices, choices for breakfast, choices for snacks, choices for lunch and so on. And, the emphasis is on REAL food with lots of fruits & veg, lean protein and the GOOD carbs that teach your body to burn fat (yes, they do exist), but also quick and convenient for you.

Isn't BootCamp really intense with all that tyre flipping, rope pulling & yelling & screaming? No, not this one! It is fun and motivating, we tailor it to suit all fitness levels and you can go at your own pace. We don't push you too hard too soon - you will fit in no matter where you are starting from & we encourage you all to give it a go.

This is how your participation as an ‘Outa-Fatness Challenger’ will raise money for Diabetes Australia – Vic.

  • You register for the challenge
  • Once registered you tell everyone you know that you are taking part to help raise $50000 for Diabetes Australia –Vic
  • You ask people to sponsor you to participate – just like Movember or Febfast or the Worlds Greatest Shave etc
  • They pledge money to YOU to support you in your challenge and this money is donated straight to Diabetes Australia
  • All donations are 100% Tax Deductible
  • Donations should be made via the ‘Everyday Hero’ fundraising page here:

    But, sponsors can also pledge through this site on the Pledge page (no money will be taken through this site). These monies will be collected at a later date.

    Tax Receipts will automatically be provided from Everyday Hero page or will be sent by mail from Diabetes Australia – Vic for all donations that are mailed in.

Every cent that is pledged and donated will go straight to Diabetes Australia – Vic. We at Inta-Fitness are not deducting anything for any expenses related to the running of this event. As a matter of fact – we will never even touch any of the money. It will go direct to DA - Vic. Inta-Fitness and our generous business supporters are providing all prizes for the challenge and covering the costs of the running of this event.

Why would we do all this for FREE? 3 reasons:

1.) We want to share what we know and help as many people as possible
because we are worried and saddened by the state of the health of many of the people in this great country of ours. Actually, worried is more PC than I would say. Personally I am sickened and disgusted by it and I plan for Inta-Fitness to be a major influence in positive changes in the health of the nation by designing & implementing health & fitness programs that will assist the entire community & not just the people privileged enough to afford Personal Training.
    
2.) To boost our profile. Of course this is not a completely selfless act. I would not expect you to fall for that. I know that this event will boost my profile and the profile of Inta-Fitness resulting in greater business opportunities and more customers/clients for the future!

3.) We always give back to the community because it gives you a warm fuzzy feeling inside - ah…

A huge celebration and awards ceremony for all the challengers.

At the end of the 12 weeks we will have a party to celebrate the hard work
and achievements of you all and to award the prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd & EEA.

Who gets the prizes? How is it judged? Well, 3 challengers who have achieved the greatest transformations in their health & fitness and whom have succeeded in accomplishing most or all of their goals will chosen by us to be the 3 finalists. As I said before, this is not just a weight loss challenge so everyone has a chance to win no matter where you are starting from.

The 3 finalists will then be put into a draw for 1st 2nd & 3rd so anyone can win it! We will draw the winners on the night.

Also, the Special Surprise Prize for Excellent Effort Award will be presented to someone who has no idea it is coming. This is a special award we give to recognise the effort of a single person who has shown great heart & determination in the face of adversity and overcome obstacles to complete their 12 week challenge and not let the team, themselves or their sponsors down.
